SLEEP'N Atocha

The city centre is ours

A dream location

SLEEP’N lies on the verge of Madrid’s well-known Triangle of Art, a stone’s throw away from the city’s three main museums and just a street away from Atocha train station and Metro line 1. You will find yourself close to such emblematic sites as Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, as well as Gran Vía high street with all its shops. Just a short distance from SLEEP’N are the Botanical Gardens and the Retiro Park, two of the city’s breathing lungs. And as if that weren’t enough, it is nestled between the vibrant neighbourhoods of Lavapies (the heart of underground culture) and Barrio de las Letras (perfect for tapas, quaint bookshops and cafés). Imagine being struck by creative inspiration here!

SLEEP'N Atocha

Where everything comes together

Atocha is truly the nerve centre of Madrid’s cultural life. Here at Plaza Carlos V is where the Prado-Recoletos-Castellana avenue stems from as the backbone of the city. The area is full of gastronomic options for you to sample some wholesome Spanish dishes at the various restaurants and bars that surround SLEEP’N Atocha. If you are more of a shopper, you will find plenty of shops around and inside the station. Why not step inside to do some SHOPP’N and visit its famous tropical gardens? After dark, you might want to discover Kapital, one of Madrid’s most popular nightclubs, or explore some of the less conventional venues in Lavapies.

SLEEP'N Atocha

Triangle of art

SLEEP´N Atocha is surrounded by art. Right by our hotel is one of Madrid’s major artistic hubs known as the Triangle of Art. The tips of the triangle are the Reina Sofía Museum, an international benchmark for contemporary art, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, home to some of the world’s most impressive private collections, and, of course, the Prado Museum, the crown jewel of Spanish artistic heritage. What’s more, the area of Barrio de las Letras contains some of the most prestigious galleries in the city. The wonders you see here will stay with you forever.

SLEEP'N Atocha

Barrio de las Letras

This historic district is renowned for having housed some of the most important literary figures in Spanish history, from the Golden Age to the present day. Its pedestrianised streets are full of quotes from all of their works. The area also contains the Museum-Houses of famous writers such as Lope de Vega, Cervantes, Góngora and Quevedo. With such a shocking amount of literary talent squeezed into just a few streets and squares, it is difficult not to feel inspired. At night, when the bookstores and galleries close their doors, the live music joints and nightclubs come to life. This spot is a favourite among travellers who come here to lose themselves in its narrow streets and savour the culture of Madrid.

Puerta del Sol

Located just a 15 min. walk away, Puerta del Sol is one of the symbols of Madrid. The New Year’s Eve countdown, the Kilometre Zero plaque marking the geographical centre of Spain, the statue of the Bear and the Strawberry Tree, the shops, theatres, museums, nightclubs and a substantial calamari sandwich. Just a few yards away are the stunning Plaza Mayor, the Gran Via high street, Plaza España and the Cibeles roundabout. The monumental heart of Madrid with its most noteworthy architecture, stores and leisure options is right here for you to explore. What more could you want?
